What is a VoiceThread?
A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos all whilst allowing people to navigate slides and leave comments in various ways!
Commenting on a VoiceThread can much more than just typing, it inspires collaboration and expression with original ways to comment. it is much more interactive than that, in fact there are 5 methods of leaving a comment, these are as follows
Text- leaving a written comment such as one you would find on most social media.
Voice- leaving a spoken comment with the help of a microphone or telephone
Audio file- an MP3 of WAV file
Video comment- via a webcam
Simple voice and video commenting takes place right in your web browser with no software to install.
Another interactive feature of VideoThread is the ability to doodle while commenting. This allows you to control the playback of a particular video, while Doodling and commenting on a specific segment of the video. The doodles are synced to your comment, showing the viewer your thoughts in action.
Perhaps one of the
best features for a teacher/class
is the ability to use multiple identities, this means that one VoiceThread account can have many commenting avatars associated with it. A family,
or an interesting person has the ability to switch identities on-the-fly without having to sign in with a different account.
“Think 22 kids, 45 minutes, and a project to complete - and you'll understand the wonder of this feature.” (VideoThread)
VideoThread gives creators and editors the choice to pick the comments which are shown to everyone else. Editors can easily choose the best comments out of a selection turning a crowded page into a succinct one.
VoiceThreads can be easily shared with friends, students, and colleagues allowing them to record their comments too. You are also able to embedded the VideoThread to show receive comments on other websites and exported to MP3 players or DVDs to play as archival movies.
With VoiceThread, group conversations are collected and shared in one place from anywhere in the world. All with no software to install!
